Yes it works! The Title-attribute is now shown as it should.
But obviously I cannot have everything . Switching to Venobox gave me at least two drawbacks compared to Shadowbox, at least the second one:
1. No print or download button available
2. Venobox maximize the size of the picture against the used screen based on the picture's width. So if the picture is "high" you need to scroll down to see the rest of the picture
I kept the "modaltitle=data-title" in one gallery but switched back to Shadowbox and Shadowbox.js. Then I got the following.
1. Shadowbox is used to show the original picture
2. Still no Print or Download button (but I can of course save the picture with a right click on the image)
3. And the Title-attribute is still there in the html:
<a href="http://[path]/img_0001-01.jpg" rel="shadowbox[sig0]" title="[My Title text]" data-title="[Your code string]">
<img alt="[My Alt text]" title="[My Title and Description text concatenated as usual]" src="http://[path]/thumbs/img_0001-01.jpg"></a>
For the other galleries where I don't use "modaltitle=data-title" it looks like before; no separate Title-attribute in the HREF, but the Print and Download buttons available in the Shadowbox.
But as said above, even if I don't do that change to shadowbox_en.js I get a working Shadowbox and the Title-attribute in the html-text for my SEO-purposes. The only thing that doesn't work is the Print and Download button. So if I forget to update the js-file after an update most of what I want seems to work.
Now, I will look forward to see what happens with the other things on my wish list !
Yes, the HTML output will be changed independently of the JS file but you will miss information (such as the description, download & print buttons) if you don't select the Venobox or modify the other files directly.
Hi, I've been using shadowbox and the title:aH.getAttribute("data-title") with old versions of Sige. Now I updated to 3.3.1.
With "data-title" I get no Title-attribute in the image view but the correct Alt and Title-attributes in the html output but no Print or Save buttons.
With "data" I get the Title-attribute in the image view and the correct Alt and Title-attributes in the html output but no Print or Save buttons.
Main question; I assume I shouldn't use "data-title" with the new version?
Bonus question: The lack of buttons may be due to my local development environment (Wamp 3.0.8 presently) where this happens from time to time. On the live site it works well. Using the same browser to access. But maybe you have any idea?

Shadowbox is not developed anymore and was not updated since many years. So, if you still want to use this modal application, then you will have to work with the workaround that I posted above last year.
Since this option ("modaltitle") is only limited to one single JS application for now, I don not plan to add it into the global settings.
