Cannot get this module to display anything

5 years 11 months ago #4665 by hypatia
HI there :)
First, thanks for the free extensions, that is generous of you!

I installed the DSK for my Joomla 1.7 site and cannot get anything to show in the module in the front end. I have activated it, searched on google, clicked the pages that came up in the results, but no search terms or anything appears within the module.

What can I do to make it work?

Thanks in advance~

Hi!

You could try it with this hack:

Open: helper.php (modules/mod_dsk/)

Search: function __construct

Change:
$uri = JFactory::getURI();
$this->set('_url', $this->buildinternalurl($uri));
In
$this->set('_url', JURI::getInstance()->toString());
Upload the changed file and try it again with a search over google!

Have success!

I made the changes you recommended, but it is not displaying anything, even the precursor that I chose to go before the search terms. :(

Can you provide me login data to your site via PM? I need at least administrator level.

I have the answer. It is because of the search string variable. The default is "q" for Google. But when I use https method, the value is not "q" any more. Thats why nothing coming up.

Here is the example:
www.google.de/#q=
www.google.de/#hl=de&sclient=psy-ab&q=

Is there any solotion for both?

Hi lechanjsc,

don't use the archive for further requests!

I think the problem is that you specify the search engine without the "s" (in https) in the settings of the plugin. The query parameter is in the https version also the "q"...

I will send the issue to the developer.
